Sukhum
Sukhum is a city with ancient history and a popular balneological resort. Business people and families with children love to relax here. This is facilitated by the well-developed infrastructure of the resort since the times of the USSR, a large number of boarding houses and sanatoriums.
Sukhum is famous for its historical sights. Vacationers with children love to visit the Monkey Nursery and the city Botanical Garden. Finally, there are magnificent sandy and pebble beaches in Sukhum. The bottom is flat, without stones and sharp changes in depth, well suited to all age categories of vacationers.
All city beaches are public, of which only five are equipped. The most popular is the Central beach, located behind the historic fortress. It is wide and partially furnished, although some services are only available for a fee. Another spacious beach, Sinopsky, is located 6 km from the city. Pitsunda
Pitsunda is the most environmentally friendly resort in Abkhazia. Its highlight is the pine and boxwood forests that surround the resort. The resort itself is small and inexpensive, suitable for a relaxing holiday, and the local air has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system. All beaches are pebbly.
It is convenient to visit other sights of Abkhazia from Pitsunda. It is better to relax here for couples with children. Near Pitsunda there is a small village of Ldzaa, otherwise called "Rybzavod". There is always a flat sea without waves, and sandy beaches are slightly diluted with pebble strips.

Gagra
The resort is geographically divided into two parts - New and Old Gagra.
New Gagra popular with young people and families. There is a lot of entertainment here: a water park with attractions, boat trips, catamarans rental, cafes and nightlife. For lovers of outdoor activities, trips to caves, lakes and waterfalls are organized, and the city itself is interesting for its sights. The beaches of New Gagra are well equipped. They are mostly small pebbles, in some places there are areas with sand. Due to the popularity of the resort, there are also disadvantages - it is very noisy, and the water is not the cleanest.
Old Gagra - this is the historical part of the city, a quiet and peaceful place without entertainment. All the beaches here are pebbly and practically not equipped. This area is preferred by older tourists and solo travelers: you can walk in the Seaside Park, visit historical sites.
Not far from Gagra there is a healing mineral spring, and in the city itself there are hydropathic establishments, which allows you to relax here all year round.

Gudauta
This is a small town, literally immersed in greenery. The beaches are wide - sand and pebbles, not equipped, housing is provided by the private sector. The main local attraction is Stalin's dacha. There is almost no entertainment, so some tourists get bored. Those who are tired of civilization need to rest here: quiet, calm and cheap.

New Athos
New Athos is famous for the monastery and the ruins of the Anakopia fortress, and in its vicinity there are unique karst caves. Families with children and those who are interested in historical sites and Orthodox shrines should go to this resort of Abkhazia.
All beaches are pebbly, many of them are surrounded by eucalyptus groves. On the western side of the resort, the beaches are wide, on the east - narrow and with an admixture of sand. Poorly equipped. The water is clean, and the bottom is even, with good entry into the water. You can stay in a boarding house or rent an apartment, prices for accommodation are determined by seasonality and distance from the beach.

When is the best time to relax in Abkhazia
High season in Abkhazia starts at May and continues until the end october... May is still cool for swimming: during the day the air temperature is +16 ... + 19 ° С, the water in the sea is + 17 ° С. This month is good for walks and excursions. The official start of the beach season in Abkhazia is in early June. The air temperature reaches +23 ... + 25 ° С degrees, and the water in the sea + 22 ° С. At this time in Abkhazia it is good to relax with children, the elderly and those who do not tolerate the heat.
IN july and august the sea becomes very warm + 25 ° С, and the thermometer rises to + 30 ° С. The wind from the sea makes it possible to tolerate the heat well, although the high humidity complicates the situation somewhat. From the first numbers september until the middle october the velvet season continues. Some consider this time to be the best time for a vacation in Abkhazia.
